THE ESSENTIALS

Marco Zanini, Creative Director, Rochas

1. Sac de Voyage Birkin 50, Taurillon Clemence (fabric lining in Hermès red)

I purchased this bag at the Faubourg Saint Honoré boutique the day after the Rochas

Spring/Summer 2010 show at the Museé de l’Homme. Couldn’t think of a better treat.

2. a. Sac à main Birkin 40, Veau Evercalf (fabric lining in chèvre bright red)

This is a special order and a unique piece, it bears the fer à cheval gold stamp.

I was lucky, I waited only 6 months for it.
2. b. Sac de Voyage Haut à Courroie 50, Taurillon Clemence

It’s the first bag I bought 12 years ago and I couldn’t possibly afford it at the time.

So I bought it at the Milan boutique, paying for it little by little over 8 months!
2. c. Sac Haut à Courroie 40, Box noir (fabric lining in chèvre red)

It’s a vintage Commande Spéciale. I bought it at auction in Paris last year.

3. Sac de Voyage Birkin 50, Taurillon Clemence (fabric lining in tabac-camel)

I got this in Milan a couple of years ago.

4. Group of Birkin and Haut à Courroie bags

This is my little collection.

5. Sac de Voyage Haute à Courroie 50, Barénia (naturel et toile)

I bought this unique Commande Spéciale vintage 1940s piece in an antiques shop

in Milan. It’s a true collector’s item. It was part of an amazing travel set of 12 suitcases

and trunks. They were all in the same materials and colors and bore the crest of the

aristocratic family to which they belonged. I’ve never seen anything like it ever since.

It wasn’t in good condition, so I sent it to the ateliers in Paris to have it restored properly.

Needless to say they did a flawless job!
